Beautiful Cake Decorating – Intermediate
This course is ideal if you have baked and successfully iced cakes before but would like to improve the finish and the design of your cakes. We will teach you the tricks of the trade when it comes to piping with Royal Icing, using moulds and which types of icing should be used to get some of the many different effects and finishes. By the end of the course you will leave with a beautifully iced cake dummy that you can keep forever. It’s also lovely to show as a reminder of just how much you have improved your techniques in months to come.
Who is this course for?
Anyone who has completed the ‘Basics to Beautiful Cake Baking & Decorating’ or who is competent at baking, icing and stacking cakes. This course is also suitable for brides wishing to design and bake their own wedding cake.
What’s involved?
Perfecting the art of piping directly onto your cake including how master the tricky art of a candy striping finish on your cakes.
The course starts with icing a cake dummy in the icing colour of your choice.
Learning the techniques of using moulds to get a detailed finish using Mexican paste.
How to hand paint the Mexican mould decorations using a mixture of gel colours & powders.
Using a selection of cutters and tools you will learn the tricks to creating simple yet effective decorations to finish off your masterpiece.
The course starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm, there is a lot to fit into the course so please arrive 15 minutes early. This will give you the chance to relax with a cup of tea and meet your fellow students.
